Basel is conveniently reached by train from the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Germany.

Route the Netherlands - Germany - Basel
Until Cologne, the ICE travels mainly through (sub)urban areas. Past Cologne, the scenery becomes more interesting. The ICE uses the high-speed railway between Cologne and Frankfurt Flughafen. If you decide to take the EuroCity to Basel from Cologne, you travel a beautiful route along the Rhine River.

Basel's main train station is Basel SBB. Another important station is Basel Bad, right at the German - Swiss border.
