Day to day

Day 1 - Burgos

Start the rail tour either in the capital Madrid or in Bilbao. Travel by train to the former capital of Castile: Burgos. Travel time from Madrid: 2h25min, travel time from Bilbao: 2h30min. Burgos is beautifully located on the Arlanzon River at an altitude of 840 meters above sea level. Explore town with its UNESCO world heritage listed gothic cathedral and the Castle of Burgos.

Overnight stay in Burgos. Hotel in the town's centre.

It is possible to add train tickets to Spain to your booking. Additional fees applicable.

Day 2 - Salamanca

Continue the tour to Salamanca, change trains once. Travel time: 3h16min. Vibrant university town with the immense New Cathedral and the charming Plaza Mayor square. Immerse yourself in magical Salamanca with is monumental highlights and lively atmosphere.

Spend the night in a hotel situated between the train station and old town.

Day 3 - Leon

Travel by regional and Avant train to beautiful Leon. Travel time: 3h25min. Discover Leon's churches, palaces and Catholic heritage. Leon used to be an important stop on the pelgrims' road to Santiago de Compostela. Not to be missed is one the most impressive cathedrals of the country: Leon Cathedral with its unique stained glass windows. Spend the evening in the narrow streets and lovely plazas of the old town.

Overnight stay in a hotel close to the old town.

Day 4 - Zamora

Move on to Zamora by Avant and regional train. Travel time: 3h49min. Zamora is packed with Medieval monuments and churches. Of any city in Europe, Zamora has the most Romanesque churches and it fully deserves its nickname 'the Romanesque Museum'. Get lost in the picturesque old town and do not forget to visit the Castle of Zamora as well.

The hotel for the night is closelly located to the casco historico, the old town.

Day 5

The last day of the rail tour takes you back to either Madrid or Bilbao.

It is possible to add train tickets to another domestic or international destination to your booking. Additional fees applicable.
