Day 1 Stockholm
The rail tour starts either in the Danish capital Copenhagen or in de Swedish capital Stockholm. In case you start in Copenhagen, travel by tilting X2000 train in 5 hours to Stockholm and arrive in the late afternoon.
Overnight stay in Stockholm. Spend the night either in a regular hotel or on the MS Mälardrottningen, a hotel boat on Lake Mälaren close to the train station. Please note that the hotel boat has huts with bunk beds.

Day 2 Night train to Abisko
Explore the Medieval city centre (Gamla Stan) of the Swedish capital in the morning and early afternoon. The night train to Lapland departs in the late afternoon.
Spend the night on the night train: shared -6-berth compartments. Upgrade possible.
Day 3 Abisko
The Arctic Circle as well as the mining town of Kiruna are crossed in the morning. Train arrives in Abisko in the early afternoon. Enjoy the wilderness of Lapland and the beautiful views on the Torneträsk lake and the Lapporten peaks. In winter, there is a chance to see the Northern Lights.
Overnight stay in the Abisko Turiststation. Please note that during the low season there are limited facilities (see 'Departure' tab).
Day 4 Harstad
Travel from Sweden's driest town (Abisko) via Sweden's wettest town (Riksgränsen) to Narvik in Norway. Beautiful train journey through the mountains and along the Ofotfjord. Continue by bus to Harstad.
Overnight stay in the Thon hotel in Harstad, with fjord views.
Day 5 Hurtigruten to Svolvaer
A full day on the Hurtigruten. Cruise through fjords and past the stunning Vesteralen islands. Along the way there are stops in Sortland and Stokmarknes. Passing the magnificent Trollfjord is the absolute highlight of the day. Disembark in Svolvaer, the capital of the Lofoten islands.
Overnight stay in the Thon hotel, which has a fantastic location in the harbour.
Day 6 Bodø
In the late morning / early afteroon leave Svolvaer and travel by bus to the south across the impressive Lofoten to Moskenes. In the evening, take the ferry to Bodø on the mainland and arrive at midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays it is possible to travel by Hurtigruten from Svolvaer to Bodø, the surcharge is €70 per person.
Spend the night in Bodø in the Thon Hotel Bodø.
Day 7 Trondheim
Back in the train today. Travel one the most scenic railways of Norway from Bodø to Trondheim.
Nidaros Hotel in Trondheim, close to the train station.
Day 8 Oslo
Visit Trondheim and its colourful warehoues in the monring. Take the train in the afternoon to Oslo. Beautiful journey across the Dovrefjell mountain range to Norway's capital.
Overnight stay in Oslo. Hotel Opera is situated on the train station's square and has harbour views.
Today is the last day of the rail tour. Explore Oslo in the morning and continue by train via Gothenburg to Denmark's capital Copenhagen.
