Day to day

Day 1

The rail tour starts with a night ferry from Toulon to Ajaccio leaving around 21:00.

It is possible to add train tickets to Marseille to your booking. Additional fees applicable.

Day 2

Arrival in Ajaccio in the morning. All railway lines in Corsica have been completely renewed and the new panoramic trains offer fantastic views. Coming from Ajaccio, the train winds through oak and chestnut forests. It passes old villages and the islands' highest mountains, climbing to Corsica's highest train station at Vizzavona.
Overnight stay in Corte, a fortified town and former capital with a pretty, old town centre.

Day 3

Visit Corte, for instance the Corsica Museum (Musée de la Corse). Spectacular walking trails start right in town. Our recommendation: walk part of the 'Mare e Mare’ trail or take the summer bus through the Restonica valley.
Overnight stay in Corte.

Day 4

Beautiful train ride through impressive mountain scenery and along the coast to Calvi. Stay in a centrally located hotel with views of the Citadel, port, beaches and mountains.

Day 5

Visit Calvi and/or beach. The "Train de Balagne" takes you to beautiful sandy beaches with their own 'train station'.
Overnight stay in Calvi.

Day 6

By train via Ponte Lecchia to Bastia. Spend the night in either Bastia or Erbalunga, which can be reached by bus in 30 minutes.
Erbalunga on Cap Corse is a car-free, fortified town by the sea. Stay in a converted former Corsican manor house with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. Please note there is a surcharge for staying in Erbalunga. In summer (July and August), there is a minimum stay of 3 nights.

Day 7

A day to spend in Bastia or Erbalunga. Relax by the pool, go for a stroll along the coast or visit the old town.
The ferry from Bastia to Toulon leaves around 18:30.

Day 8

Arrival in Toulon in the morning. This is the end of the rail tour Corsica.

It is possible to add train tickets to your booking. For instance, there are trains from Marseille to Nice (2h45m), Paris (3h30m), Barcelona (4h30m) and London (7h). Additional fees applicable.
