Austria and the motorail network
For over 70 years there have been DB Autozug services to Austria, from German cities like Düsseldorf and Hamburg, but also from the Netherlands and Belgium. In recent years, since the disappearance of the DB Autozug from the German railways, the offer has been greatly reduced, but since the emergence of the night train network of the ÖBB, the Austrian railways, DB Autozug is making a serious comeback. Within Austria, DB Autozug runs from Feldkirch to Vienna and to Villach on the Austrian-Slovenian border. Internationally there are new night trains from / to Innsbruck and Vienna. From Vienna it is now again possible to travel to Italy and Croatia by car train.

Destinations in Austria
The cities to which the DB Autozug travels are all strategically located. Vienna as the main station speaks for itself, but for travellers from, for example, Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands it is also an ideal destination to travel on to, for example, Hungary or beyond.
Innsbruck is perfectly situated for onward journeys to almost all destinations in the Austrian and Italian Alps, and destinations in the east of Switzerland are also within easy reach.
Villach in the south of Austria is ideally located for onward travel to Slovenia or the Croatian coast. Venice is also fairly close, a few hours' drive away.

Car train stations Austria
The stations in Austria where the cars are loaded are managed by ÖBB and are excellent and comfortable. There is always plenty of help when getting the cars on and off the train.
