El Transcantábrico

Luxury train travel through Spain
  • Historical train journey through northern Spain
  • Large, luxurious compartments
  • Four lounge carriages
  • Exquisite Spanish meals

Deluxe Suite

Each Deluxe Suite on the El Transcantábrico has a double bed (150x200cm) or two separate beds. Facilities: computer with internet, videogames, a lounge corner with sofa, and a large bathroom with sauna and hydromassage.

The chefs on board make local dishes from Galacia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque country and Castilla y Léon. The cheeses, sausages, meat, vegetables, fish and sea fruit are all famous for their quality. All menus include carefully selected wines. All wine, coffee, tea, water and other non-alcoholic beverages are included.

Lounge carriages

The four lounge carriages of the El Transcantabrico are unique compartments that are fabulously designed to allow you to relax while enjoying the beautiful views. Drink a cup of tea, read the newspaper, or chat with your fellow travellers.

One of the lounge carriages has a bar and dancefloor. This carriage turns into a little 'nightclub' where you can dance until the early hours of the morning. Here you will find regular live performances in the evenings. Do not worry; the bar is located far away from the suites, so your night rest will not be disturbed.

The Journey

The El Transcantabrico travels by day in order for you to enjoy the beautiful views. At night, the train stops on guarded railway terrain so passengers can get a good night’s sleep. Thanks to your travelling hotel room, there is no need to keep packing your suite cases. During stops, you can choose to stay on board the train, join the guided excursions or go explore on your own. The journey is a nice balance between train travel, nightly rest and activities. There is no dress code. We recommend comfortable clothes for daily excursions. At night you can dress more formally if you wish, but it is not required. The one exception is the Casino in Santander; a bit more formal attire is required, but not necessarily a suite and tie.
