Interrail Global Pass - participating countries
The Interrail Global Pass is valid in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

Interrail and reservations
A reservation is compulsory for most high-speed, international and night trains. For instance, reservations are compulsory for the Thalys to Paris, the Eurostar to London, the TGV in France and the Nightjet to Austria. The costs of reservations are not included in the price of an Interrail Pass. Many railway companies offer the possibility to reserve a seat in their trains, these reservations are not compulsory though. It is the best way, however, to make sure you will have a seat when travelling. During high season (summer) it is recommended to make reservations as early as possible. When you order your Interail Pass with Railtravelshop, you can make an unlimited number of reservations. We can reserve almost every train in Europe for you.

How to avoid reservations?
Unfortunately, some compulsory reservations are not cheap. Railtravelshop is an Interrail specialist and we gladly inform you on how to avoid compulsory reservations (alternative and cheaper routes).

7 p.m. rule
The 7 p.m. rule allows you to use only 1 travel day rather than 2 days when travelling overnight. You put down 1 travel day (arrival day) in your travel diary, in case your first trip of the day is a direct night train leaving after 7 p.m. and arriving at its destination after 4 a.m.

Interrail & ferries
Interrail Passes offer free or discounted use of a number of European ferry routes, for example: mainland Spain - Balearic Islands (Majorca, Minorca and Ibiza), Italy - Greece and Denmark - Norway. The 7 p.m. rule also applies to ferries.

Interrail & night trains
Travelling by night train is a great way to cover some distance while you sleep. Most European night trains have regular seats, berth compartments (couchettes) and sleeper compartments. Each night train carriage has generally a shower / sink and toilets. Reservations are compulsory for all night trains.

Festivals and events
Travel with an Interrail Pass to the best music festivals Europe has to offer.

Purschase an Interrail Pass
Order your Interrail Pass by telephone (0031 71 5161 983), by email (info@railtravelshop.com) or on the website. Payment of the Interrail Pass is possible by either bank transfer or credit card (please note the surcharge of 1.5%). There is no booking fee in case you purchase your Interrail Pass online. Once your payment has come through, the Interrail Pass (and possible reservations) will be sent by regular mail.

Is it possible for travellers living outside of Europe to buy an Interrail Pass?
Only persons taking up residence in one of the participating European countries can purchase an Interrail Pass. In case you are not living in Europe, you can purchase an Eurail Pass though. The Eurail Pass works in a similar way as the Interrail Pass and allows you to travel (parts of) Europe by train.

What to do when I loose my Interrail Pass?
When your Interrail Pass gets lost or stolen, it unfortunately cannot be replaced. In order to continue with your trip you will have to purchase a new pass or replacement tickets.

What is a travel day?
A travel day lasts 24 hours, from midnight to midnight. On each travel day you have access to the rail network of the country / countries where your Interrail Pass is valid.

What is a Flexi Pass?
If you order an Interrail Global Pass - X days within Y days - this means you can choose any X days to travel on within a period of Y days. During your trip, you decide when you use your travel days. The travel days do not have to be consecutive, so the Flexi Pass is an ideal pass when you do not plan to travel every day.

What is the 7 p.m. rule?
The 7 p.m. rule allows you to use only 1 travel day rather than 2 days when travelling overnight. You put down 1 travel day (arrival day) in your travel diary, in case your first trip of the day is a direct night train leaving after 7 p.m. and arriving at its destination after 4 a.m. This rule is especially interesting for travellers on a Flexi Pass, since it saves them precious travel days.

Do I have to make reservations?
A reservation is compulsory for most high-speed, international and night trains. The costs of reservations are not included in the price of an Interrail Pass. Many railway companies offer the possibility to reserve a seat in their trains, these reservations are not compulsory though. It is the best way to make sure you will have a seat when travelling though. During high season (summer) it is recommended to make reservations as early as possible.
In most cases to reach a destination, there are alternative (and slower) routes to avoid compulsory reservations.

Validity
The Interrail Pass is valid from the first travel day / departure day. This is also the case when the first trip is by night train

Reservations
When you order your Interail Pass with Railtravelshop, you can make an unlimited number of reservations. We can reserve almost every train in Europe for you.
Obviously, it is also possible to make reservations during your trip at train stations / ticket counters. Railtravelshop is not responsible for failed reservations on location.

Travel days: Flexi Pass & Continuous Pass
A travel day lasts 24 hours, from midnight to midnight. On each travel day you have access to the rail network of the country / countries where your Interrail Pass is valid.
When you travel on a Flexi Pass, you can travel on each travel day of your Interrail Pass (please note its validity). The number of travel days obviously depends on the type of pass you have decided to purchase. For example, if you have ordered a Global Pass - 5 days within 15 days - you can travel by train on 5 days within a period of 15 days. Before boarding a train or bus, you will have to enter the date of the travel day in the Interrail travel diary. It is recommended to not put down all your intended trips and travel days in the travel diary at once. Changes to your travel plans cannot be processed on the pass and attempt to make alterations will be interpreted as fraud.

In case you travel on a Continious Pass, there is no need to fill out the dates on which you travel on the pass.

Night trains & 7 p.m. rule
The 7 p.m. rule allows you to use only 1 travel day rather than 2 days when travelling overnight. You put down 1 travel day (arrival day) in your travel diary, in case your first trip of the day is a direct night train leaving after 7 p.m. and arriving at its destination after 4 a.m. This rule is especially interesting for travellers on a Flexi Pass, since it saves them precious travel days.

Travel in country of residence
One out- and one inbound journey in the country of residence is included in the Global Pass.

Countries
With an Interrail Pass you can explore every corner of Europe by train. The Global Pass is valid in up to 30 different countries. Interrail Passes offer free or discounted use of a number of European ferry routes as well. Moreover, pass holders receive additional discounts, for instance in some ho(s)tels.

Purchase the Interrail Pass
The Interrail Pass can be purchased on a short notice as well. Please remember though, that Interrail Passes cannot be issued digitally. The Interrail Pass is sent by regular mail. To order an Interrail Pass, we would need your ID / passport details as well as address and departure date. A passport photo is not required.

Travel documents
Please make sure that you travel with valid travel documents.

Amendments
Reservations that have been made already cannot be changed or cancelled. During your trip we cannot make any additional reservations or change reservations for you. At the train station / ticket counter however, it is possible to make new reservations or change excisting ones. Reservations that have not been used are non-refundable.

Is it possible for travellers living outside of Europe to buy an Interrail Pass?
Only persons taking up residence in one of the participating European countries can purchase an Interrail Pass. An Interrail Pass has the country of residence of the passholder printed on it. Travellers are asked to bring official proof of residency on their trip.

In case you are not living in Europe, you could purchase an Eurail Pass. The Eurail Pass works in a similar way as the Interrail Pass and allows you to travel (parts of) Europe by train.
